I was at the open gym in Gleview on October 17th, 2024 at the Titan Dome. They've been depleted by top talent moving on the last few years. Martinelli brothers, Cooper Noard, and Nick Taylor from last season. They alaways seem to have good shooting at multiple spots and a versatile big man. This program took off when Head Coach Phil Ralston came over from Geneva a few years ago. Since then they have been top contenders for Central Suburban South title, and won a Sectional Title a couple of years ago. Here's some of the talent in the gym right now:
ANESTIS HADJISTAMOULOU, Class of 2025 6'0" point guard has been on varsity at least 3 years. Very heady, experienced guard who can shoot the cover off it from three point range. He did that in the open gym and made some nice passes up court for layups and open threes. Drove to the basket for mid range step back jumpers, and converted a few layups. Future small college player.
HUDSON FULLER, Class of 2025 6'4"combo guard is a knockdown shooter from three. Lefty hits them off the bounce or off the catch. Drives strong to the basket going left and finished at the rim multiple times in the open gym. Gets out on the break to get easy layups or open threes. Defends his position with aggression and moves his feet well.
JACOB FULLER, Class of 2027 6'8" forward will make a huge jump in production this season. He hits threes very well off the catch, which he did multiple times in this open gym. Hits the glass on both ends, can bring the ball up and set up the offense. Improving rim protector in the paint. Lots of upside in his game, the best perimeter shooter among bigs in his class.
LOCHLAIN CASEY, Class of 2026 6'8" center is still a work in progress. Took him awhile to get going in the open gym. He posts up strong on the block, and can finish with jump hooks over either shoulder. Rebounds well on the defensive end of the court, and does some rim protecting. Changes ends of the court to make fellow bigs run with him.
BRAD SHAW, Class of 2026 6'2" combo guard can hit shots from three off the catch or off the bounce. He also made some nice drives and finshes to the rim in the open gym. Showed nice passing ability up the court hitting players for layups and off the attack to the basket.
ANTHONY PLAMOOTTIL, Class of 2026 5'4" point guard was a pest in the open gym. He stole the ball from Hadjistamoulou 4 times in one scrimmage game. Showed driving abilty to set up shooters at the three point line as well as quickness to get into the paint. Hit multille threes in this setting.
CONCLUSION: This is a very young team with Hadjistamoulou, and Jacob Fuller as senior leader. Sophomore Jacob Fuller is a versatile big who will have to help with production. Glenbrook South usually plays 6 to 7 players in the rotation. They are looking for other shooters to step up and support the big three. This team has the potential to be either Top 3 in the Central Suburban South, or be close to the bottom. The experienced players will have to play at a high level, but it helps they have a Jacob Fuller, Casey big man rotation. Will they handle full court pressure when it comes? Time will tell.
