This is where the Riverside Brookfield Summer Live Shootout happens. It's the biggest event for college coaches in the month of June. There's a winter high scholol season to play and the bulldogs are getting ready for it. They had weight lifting, then some shooting, then scrimmaging. Lots of shooters on the court and some size. Here's some of the talent:
CAMERON MERCER, Class of 2026 6'2" combo guard is a gifted scorer who's a very good defender. Two way monster is coming back from two sprained ankles. First time it happened to his right ankle during the Riverside Brookfield Summer Live Shootout. He was cookin at the time, had 15 points in the first half when he went down. Then came back and not too long after sprained his left ankle. He's been back now a couple of weeks, and showed a long range shooting touch though he's rusty. Hit a couple of 30 foot threes, one to win one of the scrimmage games. He has the ball handling to run point, and is good off catch and shoot or off the bounce from three. Has a nice floater in the lane for his mid range jump shot. Finsihes at the rim with either hand though he took it easy on drives in the scrimmage. Son of former NBA player Ron Mercer.
VINCE DOCKENDORF, Class of 2025 5'8" point guard can run a team and fill it up from three. He can hit them off the bounce, catch, and showed a nice step back three a couple of times in the scrimmage. He penetrates into the lane, and has a nice stop mid range fadeaway jumper as well as setting up teammates for open threes. Pesky on defense and uses his low center of gravity on that end, makes his size a plus instead of a minus.
DANNY LOFTUS, Class of 2025 6'2" combo guard hs a nice three point shot off the bounce and showed it in the scrimmage. Gritty young man who attacks the basket and finsihes at the rim. Football player gets rebounds and guarded Mercer most of the scrimmage. Made it tough on him at times to get space for his jump shot. Hit a couple of game winners last year in the regular season.
MANTAS SLEINYS, Class of 2025 6'6" forward can slash to the basket and finish off the bounce. Hits three off the catch as well as off the bounce. Hits the glass on both ends and has the versatility to guard multiple positions on the court. He blocked a couple of shots off help defense in the scrimmage.
BEN BISKUPIC, Class of 2026 6'1" forward is a young man every high school team needs. He does the dirty work, diving for loose balls, getting the extra rebound, the key steal. He hit a couple of threes in the scrimmage. Very scrappy young man who's a winner.
BRYCEN GROVE, Class of 2025 6'2" combo guard will provide leadership, play hard, and hit some three point shots. He can penetrate in the lane and create for himself or others. Plays defense on opposing guards and makes them work for everything.
WALKER BURNS, Class of 2026 6'4" wing can score in a number of ways. Averaged 20 a game on sophomore team last season. He hits threes, can slash to the basket and score at the rim. Runs the floor and can get open on the wing, or cutting to the basket to score. X-factor for the Bulldogs this season.
COLIN CIMINO, Class of 2026 6'6" wing can hit threes, slash to the basket and finish at the rim. Long arms to block shots and rebound on both ends. Has ball handling to get to whatever spot on the court he wants.
CONCLUSION: Riverside Brookfield is going into a new conference, the Upstate Eight after years being in the Metro Conference. They have a good chance to win it in their first year. The conference will be by divisions and then they'll have a crossover game at end of the season. They have a lot of shooting, similar sized guys who can do a number of things. A good mix of youth and experience. Mercer will be the star,Loftus gives them experience, but some other guys can step up. Dockendorf is the table setter at point, and similar sized guys like Sleinys, Burns, and CImino will make it tough on opponents.
