Pangos All Midwest Frosh/Soph Top 10 Class of 2023.

This is my Top 10 players in Class of 2023 in the Camp. All are very good prospects, the is for how they played at the camp, not necessarily the order I'd have moving forward.

1) Omaha Billew, 6'7" wing Dowling Catholic(West Des Moines,IA)- I've already written about him, by far the best performer of the class and maybe the whole camp. He dominated the Top 30 All-Star Game, had 10 blocked shots in the game. Top 2 ranked player in America in the class. No more superlatives needed.

2) Donoven Younger, 6'7" wing Bolingbrook(IL)- He was consistently good all weekend. He showed a big time arsenal of three point shooting, mid range pull up jumpers, and finishing with both hands at the rim. He challenged shots defensively and ran the floor well. He played in the Top 30 All-Star Game.

3) Javonte "JJ" Taylor, 6'7" wing Morgan Park(Chicago,IL)- He showed flashes of his ability on the first day, and played very well and engaged in the Top 30 All-Star game. He can shoot the three, get to the basket and finish with dunks. He can rim protect and block shots off the help side. He's the younger brother of former All-Area player Steve Taylor who played at Simeon.

4) Gus Yalden, 6'8" forward Xavier(Appleton,WI)- He showed a good post up game scoring over either shoulder in the paint. He also showed ball handling in pushing the ball down the court. He threw a nice behind the back pass on the break to a cutter for a layup. He showed a three point shot a couple of times on the first day. He did a good job at rim protecting with some blocked shots at the rim. He represented well in the Top 30 All-Star Game.

5) Ashton Williamson 6'2" guard Calumet New Tech(Gary,IN)- This young man showed a nice three point shot along with slashing to the basket and finding three point shooters on the wings. He showed he could finish in the paint over the big guys, using good body control to get his shot off. He's another one who played well in the Top 30 All-Star Game.

6) Tevonta Jackson 6'1" guard Lanphier(Springfield,IL)- He was consistently knocking down three pointers all weekend along with running the offense. He had no problems getting in the lane and creating for himself and others in the Top 30 All-Star Game. He could be the latest big time player out of Springfield.

7) Jalen Griffith 5'8" point guard Simeon(Chicago,IL)- This is what you call a true floor general. He made a great case all weekend he should have been in the Top 30 All-Star game. He showed his skills in the Top 60 game, by making great decisions on the fast break, in the half court, and in the lane. He showed a serviceable three point shot to keep defenses honest so he can use his quickness to get into the paint.

8) Dalen Davis 5'10" point guard Whitney Young(Chicago,IL)- This is another young man who could have been in the Top 30 All-Star game too. He showed great shot selection in his three point shooting, and driving to the basket. He showed great vision in setting up his teammates. He shot the ball very well all weekend. He played in the Top 60 game.

9) Darius Loury 6'5" wing Simeon(Chicago,IL)- The Simeon players showed well all weekend. This was another one who hit threes, drove to the basket and finished plays at the rim. He showed all the skills of a wing player and did some rim protecting along with it. He was in the Top 30 All-Star Game.

10) Mekhi Cooper 5'8" point guard Bolingbrook(IL)- He did not make any of the All-Star Games which to me was a miss by the staff. He shot the heck out of the ball from three point range all weekend. He showed some quickness in getting to the basket but had some trouble finishing at the rim. It seemed like he did not miss a three point shot all weekend. He was a pest on defense for the other point guards this weekend. He looks like another quick guard in the Bolingbrook program.
