DUNCANVILLE,TX: Lots of talent in the Duncanville Fieldhouse this weekend. Loads of it. One of the best camps I've been to. Lots of talent in this region, very deep in guards, wings and big men. Guards were gritty, did not give an inch on the court, but also very skilled. Could have had 3 all star teams in this event. I couldn't see them all but once I'll bet there are some future NBA players from this camp. Here we go:

CAMP MVP:

REESE ALSTON, 6'1" point guard, Class of 2027, Second Baptist (Houston,TX): Son of former NBA'er Rafer Alston aka Skip To My Lou from And 1 Mix Tape fame. This is a do everything guard who plays both ends of the court. Shifty ball handling, can get to any spot he wants to on the court, three point shooter, mid range floater, and athletic finisher above the rim. Gets after it defensively getting steals on and off the ball, deflections, moves his feet to keep players in front. Excellent passer with vision thinking two plays ahead of everyone else. Should be nationally ranked if he isn't already. Unanimous MVP as there was no argument from anyone in the gym.

TOP 30 MVP's:

XAVIER PRUZINSKY, 6'8" forward, Class of 2027, Memorial (Frisco,TX): He was active running the court, getting baskets in transition, catching lob dunks, and hitting a couple of threes. He hits the glass on both ends of the court, and pushes the ball in transition, or can hit a nice outlet lass to a guard. Nice turnaround jump shot in the post.

GALEN ROBERTS, 6'7" wing, Class of 2027, Midtown (Atlanta, GA): The wing did everything in the Cream od the Crop game as well as during the event. He handled the ball, ran the offense, scored from three, and on slashes to the rim. Hit the glass, made some nice passes in transition and in the halfcourt. Rebounded, blocked shots on and off the ball. Came to DFW and handled his business.

KINGS OF BOUNCE:

This is a special category as there were a bunch of players who showed bounce, jumping out of the gym, and putting players on posters on the regular. These players weren't just athletes, they could hit the three point jumper at a high rate.

MALACHI BOOKER, 6'6" wing, Class of 2027, St John's School (Houston,TX): He was the best player in the camp up till the Cream of The Crop Game. He performed well in that too. Powerful post player in the paint who can score with his back to the basket. Showed slashing ability to the rim and finished with nasty dunks, and more than a few posters on other players. Stepped out and consisently hit threes off the catch and off the bounce. He's also a football player as a Defensive end/tight end.

BRYCE VANN, 6'2" wing, Class of 2027, Crawford (Rosharon,TX): This young man was slashing, dashing, and regularly putting players on posters. He did it in transition and in the half court. Once he gets a step on a defender look out!!!!! No problem getting his own offense and scoring on all three levels.

CADARIAN URUNE, 6'3" combo guard, Class of 2027, Rowlett (TX): He put more than a few guys on a poster, but also showed he can run an offense. He set up himself and others in the process. Hit catch and shoot threes as well as off the bounce. He's best at slashing to the hole and posterizing defenders.

AMARE JOHNSON, 6'2" wing, Class of 2027, Homeschool (Midlothian,TX): Slasher extraordinaire who gets to the basket with a quick first step and gets up with a quickness. He dunks in a number of ways, one hand, two hand, reverse, Euro step to other side of the basket. He can hit threes mostly off the catch and shoot. Good ball handler to get to any spot on the floor he wants.

VINCENT GREEN II, 6'2" combo guard, Class of 2027, Mesquite (TX): Another slasher and finisher at the rim who can contort his body in the air and get the gym up out of their seat. Accentuates his game with a three point shot and a mid range pull-up game.

AVERY HUSTON, 6'3" combo guard, Class of 2027, Dynamic Prep (Dallas,TX): Oregon native who can dunk a number of ways and will dunk on unsuspecting defenders in traffic. Had a dunk contest by himself in one of the games. He also can run point by setting up teammates and hits threes like they are layups. Can hit them off the catch and off the bounce.

CHRISTOPHER "DUECE" HUNT JR, 6'1" combo guard, Duncanville (TX): Lefty is a streaky three point shooter who can get hot at any moment from deep. He's also a player who can slash to the basket and finish with some monster dunks, usually the two hand variety. Can make good passes to teammates off the bounce. Gets into players on defense and gets deflectiona and steals. Strong in transition.

COULD HAVE BEEN CAMP MVP:

DYLAN FRANKLIN, 6'3" point guard, Class of 2027, Crandall (TX): Another one with a great case for Camp MVP. He's a two end monster who can score at every level. Hits long three pointers off the bounce, the catch, and step backs. Nice mid range floater along with a nice Euro step around to score at the rim with either hand. Gets into guards with his physical defense that flusters opposing guards.

OTHER TOP PLAYERS:

DAWSON BATTIE, 6'7" wing, Class of 2027, St Mark's (TX): Was here on Sunday but showed his prodigious wing skills. Nice three point jumper out to 23 feet and score in the post. Can pass out of the post to open three point shooters. Rebounds on both ends of the court. Nephew of former NBA player Tony Battie.

JORDAN HOPKINS, 5'10" point guard, Class of 2028, Emerson (Frisco,TX): Gets to the basket and scores with his quickness off the dribble. Can also hit three point shots and set up teammates with slick passes. Quick hands on defense allows him to get steals on the ball.

LANGSTEN JORDAN, 5'11" point guard, Class of 2027, Goodpasture Christian (Nashville,TN): Floor general who can shoot the ball at a high level from three point range. Can get to any spot on the court with his ball handling and quickness. Good defender that moves his feet and cuts players off.Sets up teammates with nice pin point passes for scores.

MARCUS SPEARS, 6'7" forward, Class of 2027, Dynamic Prep (Dallas,TX): Son of former NFL player Marcus Spears he's an inside force in the paint. Can score over either shoulder in the paint. Runs the floor and hits the glass on both ends of the court.

MUSUNGUINDJI MWENENTANDA, 6'5" wing, Class of 2028, Washington (Sioux Falls, SD): Slasher to the basket, can get where he wants on the court with the dribble. Good three point shot and finishes at the rim. Defends all perimeter positions with good foot movement to stay with offensive players. Rebounds well for his position.
