I will do the Chicago Area Class 3A matchups in state playoffs. Here we go:
TBD SUPERSECTIONAL:
TBD Sectional:
Though they have had a rough start to their season, St Ignatius(Chicago) should be the favorites here. Senior Kolby Gilles and senior guard AJ Redd will have to be leaders for them to get to the Supersectional.
Dark Horse:
Westinghouse(Chicago)- Senior Joshua West will have to be the leader for a young team.
Fenwick(Oak Park)- A young and talented team who could make a run to the Supersectional.
TBD Sectional
Lake Forest with the best player in the Sectional junior Asa Thomas will be a slight favorite. Look for St Patrick if All-Area Timmaris Brown gets healthy and a young Notre Dame(Niles) team to challenge for Supersectional berth.
CHICAGO UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS CHICAGO SUPERSECTIONAL:
Chicago Heights Marian Catholic:
Marian Catholic has an upper hand as the hosts but I give Hillcrest(Country Club Hills) the edge in this Sectional. Yes they are a young team, but have meshed together quite well with their leader junior point guard Bryce Tillery leading the way. Look out for Thornton Township(Harvey) who has senior Illinois commit Ty Rodgers who's the best player in the Sectional.
Hinsdale South(Darien):
Simeon Career Academy(Chicago) is the favorite as senior Jaylen Drane has stepped up his game this season and the Rubin twins(juniors Wes and Miles) have adjusted well to the system.
Dark horses:
Hyde Park(Chicago)- Always a tough out.
Mount Carmel(Chicago)- Junior DeAndre Craig is good enough to carry his team through a long playoff run.
Simeon Career Academy(Chicago) vs Hillcrest(Country Club Hills) would be a monster Supersectional at Illinois Chicago.
