PREP PROSPECT REPORT ILLINOIS
TOP 3 PLAYER IN CLASS OF 2027 FOR ILLINOIS
MARKESE PEOPLES, ST LAURENCE (BURBANK)
CLUB TEAM: CHICAGO DEMONS
TWITTER: @kese1_
He is called "The Peep Show". I did not give him this nickname it is courtesy of Austin (Chicago) Head Coach Ronald "Fatty" Duling. He's been watching him since sixth grade. I call him "The Silent Assassin". First time I saw him was his freshman year at Pangos Frosh/Soph camp. He almost destroyed a poor kid that was in his way as he tried to dunk on him. He missed it because he tried to dunk so hard, it ricocheted to halfcourt. He was injured a lot of his freshman year. Took off as a sophomore.
6'2" combo guard is unstoppable on the high school level. Strong body, quick hands, good feet, and can get anywhere he wants on the court. Double/double threat everytime he steps on the court. HE CANT BE SPED UP!!!
STRENGTHS:
Gets where he wants off the dribble, whether it's in full court, from three point line, in the lane, or on the block. Uses spin moves, in and out dribble to get to the rim, then uses his strength and strong body to power through defenders and finish at the rim. He can do it with either hand, or using Euro steps to go around defenders. Sneaky athlete as he can also dunk on defenders.
Intelligent player as he can read the defense and knows where everyone is on the court. Makes nice passes off penetration, or moves the ball after receiving a pass from teammate. Can employ him in the middle of a press, will move the ball up the court without dribbling. Makes good decisions on the fly to either score or set up a teammate for a basket at the rim, or a nice kickout for an open three. Unstoppable on the high school level. Spins off defenders either splitting a double team, or going around a defender. Knows how to use his body to keep his dribble and not allow defenders to go through his body to steal the ball.
Hits the mid range jumper when employed at the free throw line extended. Makes the good pass or gets to the rim and finishes through or around contact. Effective with either hand at the rim. Has a nice floater from 10-15 feet. Hits the glass on both ends, gets double figure rebounds in a game the majority of the time. Gets them in and out of his area. Uses his body to box out players, and can get off the floor to get the board. Good at reading where the ball is going to come off the rim.
WEAKNESSES:
Can be foul prone, needs to make better decisions on when to go after a shot or a steal. Doesn't shoot a lot of three point shots so hard to know how effective he is out there.
CONCLUSION:
Not a lot of weaknesses to his game. Conditioning used to be an issue, but he plays most of the game now. Changes ends very well and doesn't get noticeably tired. Strong as an ox, has an unusual build but moves quite well. Quick feet and mitts for hands. Big hands and soft hands to catch the ball in and out of his area. He can guard different positions on the court, and is good on pick and roll as his quick feet come in handy.
Not shooting a lot of threes may not be much of a weakness, just can't stop him from getting to the rim. I've seen him shoot a few threes and the stroke looks good, and he can knock them down. Might be nitpicking at that as a weakness. Division one prospect and I feel he can play point guard at the next level. College coaches just put him on the floor somewhere and figure out the other four positions on the court. Versatile as you can employ him anywhere on the court and he's effective offensively. Spins, in and out dribbles, need multiple players to guard him.
All ten eyes need to be alert and even that doesn't stop him most of the time. I've seen him split the defense with the dribble, and score around or through defenders. Put a big on him, he'll take him to the perimeter and blow by him. Try a guard on him and he'll take him to the post and use his exquisite footwork to get around or go through him for a bucket.
ADDENDUM:
College coaches, fans, scouts, "The Peep Show" aka "The Silent Assassin" is playing at St Laurence (Burbank) High School, in tournaments (Jack Tosh Holiday Tournament for one), and in the Chicago Catholic League in the Chicagoland Area. You will enjoy watching him play. To add he has a 3.0 Grade Point Average so strong academically. He also needs to play on a major shoe circuit in Spring and Summer of 2026. It's time for the national folks to check him out. He can play against any nationally ranked guard you want to put in front of him. He's worth the price of admission just come out, sit back, and watch the show. Get your popcorn ready. The Peep Show is playing at a gym near you.
