I'm still not over the shock and it's 3 days later. Wednesday he had signed with Klutch Sports with his NBA dream not far away. Hearing of the signing I wrote on my Kentucky Basketball recruiting report page on Facebook, that he would certainly be drafted with this move. Klutch Sports is known to get their players drafted even the ones on the fringe. Thursday morning/afternoon he was going through a workout with his buddy and ex-teammate at Kentucky Brandon Boston Jr. His Mom videoed the workout on IG Live. Workout done they leave to go back to where they are staying, to probably get something to eat, a little rest, before coming back for another workout that evening. NBA Prospects usually do two to three workouts a day getting ready for the NBA Draft, trying to be in the best shape for workouts with NBA teams or at the NBA Combine in June. Late Thursday afternoon April 22nd, 2021, Terrence Clarke is dead at 19 years old, in a car accident where he ran a red light and crashed into a telephone poll and a wall. Brandon Boston Jr and Terrence's Mom was following behind him. Needless to say both will need extensive therapy. Clarke had just declared for the NBA Draft after an injury plagued season at Kentucky which lasted only 8 games. Potential unfulfilled though he was ranked the #1 shooting guard in the Class of 2020, a McDonald's All-American and Jordan Brand All-American. A lot of Kentucky fans were saying he milked the injury so he wouldn't have to play anymore to protect his NBA Draft stock. They won't admit it now that he's gone. I call them hypocrites and cowards. Clarke played through the injury against Notre Dame and was obviously hobbled limping through the Louisville game. He thought he was ready to come back and play then the doctors said he was out another month. He cried along with Coach John Calipari at this news. Still he smiled, cheered the team from the bench in a boot some Kentucky fans said was for show. He did his best to keep help with team moral. What young man does this in the face of his disappointing injury setback? News flash: if you ever played a sport you would know NO ATHLETE FAKES WEARING A BOOT ON HIS FOOT!!!!!!!!! He worked hard to get back for Kentucky's last game of the season vs Mississippi State in the first round of the SEC Tournament. He was one of the best players in the floor for the minutes restriction he was on. Then that was it Kentucky career over and not how he would have wanted it to end. You talk to people who knew him the best and he was a bright light to everyone he encountered. Folks his age, younger, and older, anyone he was around. I think he was such a bright light God had to take him. He had other plans for this young man, whatever that is, it's beyond my understanding as a human. Some Kentucky fans do not know what we had. We had the privilege of this young man coming to the University of Kentucky, and showing us how to act in the face of adversity. That lesson coming from a young man at 19 years old. We have to start looking at these young men as human beings and honor what they bring to Big Blue Nation. Terrence Clarke brought more to us as a human being, than a basketball player. That has nothing to do with the stat sheet or wins and losses. I hope folks remember that more than the scoreboard. Rest easy young fella.
