#1 Evanston Township 81 #7 Bloom Township(Chicago Heights) 79: Evanston will lose the #1 ranking next week in my poll as a result of their loss to Zion Benton on Tuesday. They brought it in his game and overcame Bloom's size advantage and 5 division one prospects to win the game. Evanston shot 13 for 27 from three point range and received a fantastic game from junior guard Isaiah "Itchy" Holden who had 24 points and 6 rebounds. He controlled the pace on the offensive end for the Wildkits. Jaylin Gibson came up big with 21 points and 8 big rebounds and 8 assists as Evanston was only out rebounded by 3 in the game by the taller Blazing Trojans. Evanston had an 18-4 run between the first and second quarters to take a 40-32 halftime lead. They had a 61-52 lead going into the fourth qiuarter. Bloom made a comeback with 3 three pointers by senior guard Dante Maddox Jr, who ended up with 22 points and 5 rebounds. Evanston was leading 81-79 with 0.3 seconds left but threw the ball away on the other end without anyone touching the ball. Bloom inbounded the ball under their own basket but could not get a shot off. Blake Peters also had a big game for Evanston with 24 points on 6 three pointers. Maddox Jr was supported by senior guard Donovan Newby with 22 points along with Christian Shumate's 17 points on a bunch of dunks and he had 5 blocked shots. Evanston Township ups it's record to 20-1 ahead of it's showdown Tuesday with#8 Loyola Academy while Bloom Township drops to 19-5 with a huge game Tuesday vs undefeated #3 Thornton.

#11 Fenwick(Oak Park) 69 Rolling Meadows 56: The top two players in the Class of 2021 in Illinois matched up and it did not disappoint. Max Christie(Rolling Meadows) and Louisville commit Bryce Hopkins(Fenwick) are both Top 100 players in America and have contrasting styles. Christie has an all court game though more finesse and smooth while Hopkins has an all around game also but carves you up with his physicality and spin moves. Christie blocked 4 of Hopkins shots tonight, but could not keep him down forever. Hopkins ended up with 37 points and 16 reboundsand 3 steals. Christie had 31 points 7 rebounds 5 assists and 5 blocks. The difference is Hopkins had a little more help in the person of sophomore point guard Trey Pettigrew. Pettigrew had 20 points and 3 steals while Christie had senior guard Jonah Ogunsanya scoring 14 points to give him a little assistance. Fenwick took over this game in the second quarter outscoring Rolling Meadows 22-11 in that quarter. Fenwick ups it's record to 18-4 while Rolling Meadows drops to 13-6.

Simeon(Chicago) 67 #4 Notre Dame College Prep 53: A few years ago people would have said, THIS IS NOT AN UPSET!!!!! This year it is as Simeon has struggled a bit but looks like it's putting it together at the right time. Notre Dame College Prep has wins over #5 Bogan(Chicago) and #18 Morgan Park(Chicago). They could not pull off the trifecta over Chicago Public League Powers because senior wing Jeremiah Williams is finally playing up to his talent. It took an adjustment period for Williams to get used to Simeon and the Chicago Public League. He transferred in from St Laurence(Burbank) in the off season. He has played well over the last two weeks, especially on Thursday vs Morgan Park. Williams had 21 points and 7 rebounds tonight playing aggressive basketball on both ends. Simeon did not get a big game from junior guard and DePaul commit Ahamad "Black Cat" Bynum who had 2 points for most of the game before exploding in the fourth quarter for 11 of his 13 points. Simeon also received a big game from junior forward Dylan Ingram with 14 points. Notre Dame College Prep was led by junior forward Troy D'Amico with 19 points 3 blocks, followed by junior wing Louis Lesmond with 15 points, junior point guard Anthony Sayles had 10 points and 5 rebounds 2 steals. Simeon ups it's record to 15-8 headed into the Chicago Public League Playoffs. Notre Dame College Prep drops to 21-3.
