Riverside Brookfield Live Period Day 1 Wrap-up!!!!!!

Writer's picture: Big TimBig Tim

Good day of basketball, no big time dominant team that I saw today. I did see three sudden death overtime games though. Next two days should be on and poppin. Here we go:

A CHILD SHALL LEAD THEM (Freshman): Started off the day and live period with Bolingbrook vs North (Downers Grove). Best player on the floor was a freshman by the name of Davion Thompson 6'2" guard. He hit 4 threes on the way to 20 points, made a key three and steal late to preserve the win. The lefty also showed he could score going to the basket, and played defense on multiple division one scholarship holder Jack Stanton (Class of 2024). He had 17 points but had to work for them. Bright future for this young man in Class of 2027.

WHAT IN THE WORLD? DAVION HANNAH PLAYING FOR KENWOOD ACADEMY (CHICAGO)!!!!!!: Hannah a nationally ranked Class of 2025 prospect (46th in 247 composite) is a 6'5" explosive guard who plays club ball for Mac Irvin Fire. Is he transferring to Kenwood Academy? Mike Irvin always has something up his sleeve sneaking this one in on all of us. If he does indeed end up with the Broncos, their profile just got higher. Have a lot of talent already, this would make them really stacked.

DAVIS BYNUM IS STEPPING UP FOR EAST ST LOUIS!!!!! The 6'8" Class of 2024 wing scored in every way against Whitney Young (Chicago) in loss. He had 27 points, double digit rebounds, 4 blocks and 4 assists. Filled the stat sheet though he went out briefly with a cramp. He may help them not miss a beat this season and stay a powerhouse.

GABE SULARKSI IS SPECIAL!!!!!! The 6'6" Class of 2026 wing for Benet Academy (Lisle) showed he is the next star for the Redwings. He showed he could score on all three levels against Mount Carmel in overtime win. Showed he can go off the bounce and score as well as catch and shoot. Plays on club circuit for Meanstreets, which will help his recruiting to become really high profile.

CLASS OF 2026 has some other names that shined:

Marshawn Cocroft, 5'10" point guard, Christian (Aurora) 25 points against Oak Lawn

Jayden Wright, 5'11" point guard, Benet Academy (Lisle)
