Riverton Shootout preview!!!!!!

This is my first trip to this event in the Springfield Area. Some of the top players in the event:



Cooper Knowles, West Hancock (Warsaw): 6'10" senior forward is the second ranked player in class of 2026 in Big Tim's rankings. Has over 400 blocked shots for his career. King of Bounce who has quick spring off the floor. Elite rim protector, double/double threat crashing the glass. Improving three point shooter, can take it off the bounce, post up on the block, hit mid range jumpers. Good passer out of the post.



Hunter Froman, West Hancock (Warsaw): 6'4" junior combo guard is a great inside/out complement to Knowles. Nice pull-up jumper from mid range, can hit the three, will attack off the bounce to the rim. Two sport athlete (football). Good passer.



Parker Krogman, Eastland (Lanark): 6'3" junior combo guard was huge in their run to Class 1A State Finals last season. Has over 2000 career points. All time scoring leader at the school. Three level scorer with a strong frame. Crashes the glass on both ends of the court.


Keyshaun Manney, Central Catholic (Boomington): 6'1"junior point guard is explosive off the bounce. King of Bounce who'll dunk on you at a moments notice. Improving three point shooter who crashes the defensive glass. Big Tim top five player in Class of 2027 for Illinois.



Cason Newton, Byron: 6'1"senior combo guard (I kept misspeling his name smh) is a big time scorer at football scholl that has won multiple state titles. Basketball team has won 20 plus games for four straight seasons. He's the all time leading scorer in school history. Scores off the bounce or from three point range. Creates for himself and others.


Nathan Marlow, Webber: 6'3" senior combo guard is nearing 3000 points for his high school career moving up on IHSA career scoring lists. Averaging close to 30 points a game on stepback threes, attacks to the rim. catch and shoots, mid range floaters. Should be entertaining to watch.


Gage Paterson, Waltonville: 6'6" senior forward is a double/double threat scoring and rebounding. Has over 2000 career points. Averages 19 points 9 rebounds 4 assists per game. He scores on the block, can step out and hit threes as well. Good passer into the post or out. One of the top small school players in the state.



Jagger Mayville, Waltonville: 6'6" junior forward can score on the block, step out and hit threes as well as hit the glass. Lefty is a great twin post complement to Peterson. Double/double threat in scoring and rebounding as well. Smooth stroke from three off the catch. Plus athlete with some bounce.



Sawyer Smith, Carlinville: 6'3" senior forward leads team in scoring,rebounding, and blocks with 16.1 points 7.6 rebounds 1.8 blocks per game. Has scored over 1000 career points. Two sport star (football).


Garrett Timm, Williamsville: 6'3" senior wing is the leading scorer on a balances team averaging 12.7 points a game. Two sport star (soccer). Hits threes off the bounce or the catch and attacks the rim off the bounce. Has some bounce off the floor for dunks.


Jaxsen Trager, Riverton: 6'0" junior forward is a jack of all trades player. Scores from three and on the block, rebounds, makes good passes. Strong big bodied player. Made all tournament at St Teresa Christmas Tournament.



Julian Rice, Riverton: 5'10" junior combo guard is a scorer from three and off the bounce. One of the top players in the Springfield area. Three level scorer puts up numbers in a hurry. Won tournament MVP at St Teresa Christmas Tournament. Clutch performer.


Nolan Franzen, St Joe Ogden: 6'3" junior forward is the team's leading scorer made all tournament at State Farm Classic small schools division.


Tyson Frick, Woodlawn: 6'5" junior forward is an inside force, double/double threat in points and rebounds. Strong well built player to deal with physical play in the paint.


Kyle Cooper, Woodlawn: 6'1" senior combo guard is a nice shooter from mid range and can hit threes off the catch and shoot. Creates off the bounce for himself and teammates. Two sport athlete (golf).
