Rolling Meadows had a 9 point lead at halftime, took it up to 13 in the third quarter, but slowly the Saxons crept back into the game. Schaumburg started going inside to Chris Hodges for buckets on the interior ,and timely threes from guard Joey Sturino(two) and sophomore guard Vaurice Patterson who finished with 14 points. Top 15 national junior guard Max Christie dove repeatedly to the basket and drew fouls(a lot of trips to the free throw line for Christie), but could not overcome the Saxons balance. Wisconsin commit junior forward Chris Hodges ended up with 24 points 13 rebounds and 6 assists(double/double) and was supported by Patterson. Max Christie ended up with 31 points and 6 rebounds on a tough shooting night from the perimeter. Freshman guard Cam Christie had 5 points. Schaumburg goes to 7-0, 2-0 in conference. I have to give them consideration to get into my Elite 25. Rolling Meadows gos to 5-1, 1-1 in conference.
#16 Thornton(Harvey) upsets #1 Bloom(Chicago Heights) at home tonight 61-58. They seem to be the epitome of team basketball as this is a big win for Tai Streets and company.
#2 Bloom(Chicago) blows out #9 Simeon(Chicago) on the road 76-54. Senior guard Antoine Bloxton is ridiculous, he had 20 points today in a variety of ways along with 10 rebounds to give him a double/double. Where are the Coaches with the high major Division 1 offers for this young man!!!!!!! I plan on getting a close look at Bogan on Thursday in their band box gym vs Corliss(Chicago).
Speaking of high major young men: Aquan Smart of Niles North(Skokie) recommits from East Tennessee State today. I usually say this is a mistake kill it at the mid major level and get your name out there. This is different, this is an obvious high major kid who can do damage at that level. I was surprised he committed during the early signing period. He was Smart(no pun intended), by putting off signing a letter of intent. He's one of the best unsigned kids on the market, along with Bloxton, and some high major school is getting a great overall two end wing guard.
