Eric Anderson was a McDonald's All American, Mr Basketball in Illinois in 1988. Played college ball at Indiana and 3 years in the NBA. Tragically passed away in 2018 at 48 years old. He's the most famous athletic alum from St Francis DeSales. He's everywhere in the school. His jersey, his number is on the warmup uniforms. St Francis De Sales won a sectional last year with an under 500 record. They are looking to do the same this year. Record is currently 13-19 and they are a 7 seed but play in the tough Chicago Catholic League White Division. That schedule has made them dangerous for higher seeded teams. They ran through their regional including this game. Fabulous freshman Michael Woods was injured till recently. Just returned for the playoffs. I will go over notes and top performances. Here we go:

#7 seed St Francis De Sales (Chicago) 83 #5 seed Unity Christian Academy (South Holland) 58: This game was St Francis De Sales from the start though freshman Michael Woods committed two fouls within the first two minutes. Sims took over as he was in everything the entire game. Scoring, rebounding, assisting, steals, and blocked a shot. St Francis DeSales led 23-10 after one quarter, 40-20 at half, and 59-32 at the end of three quarters. Unity Christian fought and kept the score under 30 point margin in the fourth quarter. Woods came back in the second quarter and did a little bit of everything the rest of the game. Made his presence known in every category. It's obvious St Francis De Sales was under seeded. They move on to IHSA Class 1A Sectional semifinal to play 1 seed Hope Academy (Chicago) on Wednesday with a 13-19 record. Unity Christian Academy ends it's season at 18-11.

Top performers for St Francis De Sales (Chicago):

Jerimiya Sims, 6'2" senior combo guard: He was everywhere filling out the stat sheet. Scoring, rebounding, assisting, steals, and a block. Showed energy and aggressiveness looking for his shot and getting deflections in the press. Stat line: game high 23 points 2 rebounds 2 assists 3 steals and 1 block.

Michael Woods, 6'1" freshman point guard: Definitely one of the best freshman in the state, has flown under the radar all year. Overcame some early foul trouble. Scores at all three levels, has quick hands to get steals, hits the defensive glass, and made some nice passes full court and in traffic. Can get where he wants off the dribble and finishes strong at the rim. Stat line: 12 points (1/2 from three, 5/8 from the floor) 6 rebounds 5 assists 4 steals and 1 block.

Davonte Doty, 6'8" senior wing: Put up good numbers only played a half as he tweeted his ankle and was not needed in the second half. Stat line: 9 points 1 rebound 3 steals and 4 blocks.

Eric Johnson, 6'1" senior combo guard: Stat line of 10 points 2 rebounds 2 assists and 2 steals.

Sivante Stokes, 6'3" freshman wing: He came off the bench and provided great energy putting up a stat line of 14 points 6 rebounds and 1 block.

Top performances for Unity Christian Academy (South Holland):

Shamar Coleman, 6'1" senior wing: Stat line of 17 points (4/5 from three) 3 rebounds 2 assists and 1 steal
