I traveled a little off the beaten path tonight to Hampshire to see homestanding #12 ranked Burlington Central. My first time seeing them in person. They press most of the game, had 16 steals tonight, and Coach Brett Porto plays 8-9 players, usually shuffling in three at a time very two minutes. They played McHenry who was next to last in the Fox Valley Conference. They did not look like it in the first half as McHenry led 23-20 going into halftime. Senior guard Zac Schmidt had 4 fouls. He picked up 2nd and 3rd with no time running off clock in second quarter. Picked up a personal, then argued with official and received a technical foul for his third. Not sure the coaching staff knew but was told during the mask timeout in the second quarter. McHenry 6'3" senior guard Anthony Fowler was lighting it up in the first half. He ended up with 22 points on 3 three pointers for the game. Burlington Central picked it up in the third quarter and played like the top 15 ranked team that they are. They outscored McHenry 22-9 in the third quarter to take control of the game, then cruised rom there to a 56-44 win. Burlington Central was led by 6'3" senior guard Gavin Sarvis who had a double double 26 points 11 rebounds and 6 steals. 6'3" senior forward Nick Carpenter had 10 points 5 rebounds. 6'7" junior forward Andrew Scharnowski had 7 rebounds and 5 blocks. Senior Carson Seyller had 5 assists and 5 steals. 5'10" sophomore Marko Visjevac had 15 points on 5 threes and 2 steals for McHenry. Burlington Centrals stays undefeated(27-3, 17-0) in the Fox Valley, but has a huge test Friday at Huntley. McHenry drops to 8-19, 3-14 in conference.
