I was at #14 Riverside Brookfield tonight. I was witness to a big upset tonight as Aurora Christian came into the Dawg House and pulled the upset 74-70. Senior point guard Drew Meyers went absolutely nuts in the second half. He had 27 points including the game winning 4 point play with 5.4 second left for the final margin. Added 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Some small college would be getting a very good player who can hit threes and create off the dribble. Senior 6'1" guard Danny New ended up with 13 though played late in the game on a twisted ankle. Senior 6'0" guard McCade Weber had 11 points for the winners. Riverside Brookfield blew a 16 point third quarter lead, fell behind by 7 at the last mask timeout. They made a rally with their press and tied the game with some big plays by senior guard Joevonn McCottry who had a chance to take the lead with a three point play opportunity with 16 seconds left. Score was 70 all but missed the free throw setting up Meyers heroics. McCottry would be a very good small college player, has some rise with this athleticism. He ended up with 21 points. Senior 6'3" guard John Paul Handley ended up with 19 points on 4 three point shots. Look out for 6'4" sophomore guard William Gonzalaez who has a chance to be a future star. He had 5 points a game high 7 rebounds and 3 assists in loss. Aurora Christian goes to 14-4, 2-2 in conference. #14 Riverside Brookfield drops to 14-3, 5-1 in conference. Of course their first conference loss tied in loss column with St Francis.
