1) Jonathan Kuminga, TBD- 6'7'" wing is explosive getting to the basket and finishing, has an improving three point jumper and defends up to 4 positions on the high school level. He needs to establish a good floater to accentuate his drives to the basket. Best two way player in the Class. He plays for New York Rens on the Nike EYBL Circuit. He dominated in every phase at the Peach Jam Finals. He's high school is to be determined because there have been rumors he's moving to Texas. He was at Our Savior Lutheran(NY) last season. Kentucky, Duke, Washington, Nebraska, Xavier, Georgia, Alabama, Arizona State, Memphis, TCU, Texas Tech among others. I look for Texas Tech to be a major player as his brother just transferred there from UNLV.
2) Chet Holmgren, Minnehaha Academy(MN)- 7'0" combo forward is a Unicorn of the highest order. He can dribble down the court, shoot the three popping out off screens, has a nice floater at the mid range game, and has a nice jump hook in the post. He's a great rim protector who blocks shots with two hands without fouling, jumps straight up and keeps blocked shots in play. No, he does not post up much as he is only 185 pounds. Obviously he needs to get stronger but has a toughness in him that helps him deal with bigger, stronger post players. He plays for Grassroots Sizzle on the Under Armour Association circuit. Arkansas, Mississippi State, Virginia Tech, Ohio State, Georgetown, Wake Forest, Tennessee, Kansas, Vanderbilt, Gonzaga, Minnesota among a host of schools. I suspect more blue bloods will join the chase soon.
3) Terrence Clarke, Brewster Academy(NH)- 6'7" wing player who can play point guard in a pinch can shoot the three, penetrate to the basket and finish with either hand. He's adequate defensively and hits the boards well for his position. He plays for Expressions Elite on the Nike EYBL Circuit. He played very well at the Peach Jam Finals. He has talked about reclassifying but word is out he's a true junior in the classroom and it would be an uphill road for him to jump to Class of 2020. Kentucky, Oregon, Vanderbilt, UCLA, Texas Tech, St Johns, Kansas, Memphis among others are chasing his signature.
4) Patrick Baldwin, Sussex-Hamilton(WI)- 6'9" combo forward can shoot the three pointer, score off the dribble, can pass, rebounds at a high rate, and has a nice pull up jump shot. He has to improve on the defensive end which is hampered by a lack of strength. He can finish at the rim with either hand and has a great Euro step to get around defenders to accomplish this. He plays for Phenom University on the Nike EYBL Circuit. His Dad, Patrick Sr is the Head Coach at Wisconsin Milwaukee. Wisconsin Milwaukee, Duke, Michigan, Northwestern, Kansas, North Carolina, Missouri, Wisconsin among others. I've heard he's a Duke lean but I would not count out Wisconsin Milwaukee or Northwestern, where both his parents were athletes there.
5) Paolo Banchero, O'Dea(Wa)- 6'9" combo forward is a strong inside presence in the post. The thing that takes him to the next level is his versatility. He can dribble the ball up the court, pass out of the post, or on the perimeter. You can also use him in pick and pop game to shoot three pointers. His defensive footwork guarding pick and roll on perimeter needs work, but he's good defending players in the post though not a great rim protector. He's talking about reclassification to the Class of 2020. Washington, Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina, Georgetown, Gonzaga, Tennessee, Washington State, Memphis among others, His Dad played Football at Washington, and his Mom left as the All-Time leading scorer for Washington Womens Team. Washington will be tough to beat to get his signature.
