Top seed Evanston Township's on ball pressure defense, and attacking the rim, shuts down Penn commit Dalton Scantlebury of Lane Tech. Moves onto Sectional Final. Top performances in state 4 MAR 2025!!

Evanston counteracts Lane Tech's size with on ball pressure, great help side defense on Scantlebury, hitting shots mostly attacking the basket and making good passes in the paint for baskets. Here we go:




WINNETKA, ILLINOIS IHSA CLASS 4A SECTIONAL SEMIFINAL:



Evanston Township 56 Lane Tech College Prep (Chicago) 39:



First quarter:


Evanston put the pressure on right away and it started with senior Ian Peters of Evanston Township making life miserable for Lane Tech's point guard Brayden Rosenkrantz on the ball. Evanston scored on drives to the paint, and good passes for baskets. Senior George Richardson of Evanston scored 6 points in the quarter, led the game from start to finish. Evanston led 14-7 at the end of the first quarter. Controlled the tempo pushing the ball when opportunities presented itself.



Second quarter:


Evanston continued scoring in the paint for the most part on drives to the rim and ball movement around the perimeter. They also stole passes to Scantlebury on help side defense in the paint. Evanston had sophomore Vito Rocca fronting Scantlebury. Lane Tech couldn't hit any outside shots. Senior Kaidan Chatham attacked the rim and scored or passed out to shooters. Senior Jayden Rodriguez (#0) came off the bench and gave Evanston some energy. Evanston outscored Lane Tech 13-8 in the quarter and led 27-15 at halftime.



Third quarter:


Evanston kept the defensive pressure up forcing turnovers and converting them into baskets. Freshman Ben Ojala came alive late in the third quarter into the fourth quarter with a couple of three pointers to give Evanston a comfortable cushion. Evanston outscored Lane Tech 16-10 in the quarter to lead 43-25 to end the third quarter.



Fourth quarter:


Ojala started the quarter with 5 quick point and Lane Tech never got closer than 14 points.

Evanston Township advances to Sectional Finals on Friday with a 28-5 record against winner of Niles North (Skokie)/ Loyola Academy (Wilmette) winner.


Lane Tech College Prep (Chicago) ends season at 20-12.
