Big Tim short preview:
Vernon Hills (11-4, 3-0) at Niles North (Skokie) (11-4, 3-0):
Biggest game in Central Suburban North in years. Biggest game for Vernon Hills in decades. Yes Big Tim plans to be in the house for this one:
Top players:
Vernon Hills:
Senior guard Jeremy Zamost
Senior guard Brady Larsen
Senior Graham Lis
Senior Daniel Obhiambo
Niles North (Skokie):
Senior Mustaf Rexhepi
Senior Enzo D’Andrea
Senior Osman Khan
Junior Collin Tobin
Vernon Hills has looked to this season for three years now. This is their chance to finally win the CSL North. Senior laden team with experienced guards. Zamost runs the show, Larsen and Lis are knock down three point shooters. Obhiambo is a King of Bounce who’ll embarrass you at the rim if you don’t box him out.
Niles North has ruled the CSL North for at least a decade. This is a new inexperienced crew who sat behind 3 and 4 year varsity players the last three years. This is their shot to continue the tradition. Best player is Tobin, a do it all guard who at 6’3” is well built and can crash the glass. D’Andrea runs the team penetrating and scoring or hitting threes. Rexhepi is a strong player inside at 6’4” and will have to keep Odhiambo off the glass. Khan is a tall (6’5”) wing shooter.
Will Niles North’s pressure and size bother Vernon Hills experienced guard core? Niles North as a program have been in these big game atmospheres before. Vernon Hills has not. Will the moment get to them? One thing is for sure these teams will have a second go at Vernon Hills in exactly a month (Feb 6th) from now. This is round one. Get your 🍿 ready. Ding ding.
