West Central uses diamond press late and in overtimes along with owning the glass to beat Christian (Aurora) and get to Class 1A title game!!!!!!

This game turned late in fourth quarter with the diamond press West Central put on. It resulted in multiple turnovers by Christian (Aurora) and baskets to send game into overtime. They scored on a bunch of two point shots and put backs in paint to get to title game.



West Central 70 Christian (Aurora) 65 2 Overtimes: Aurora Christian had a lead from 5 to 10 points most of the game, then West Central went to a diamond press to force turnovers and eventually tie the game at the end of regulation. Christian (Aurora) had a chance to win at end of regulation but senior Cam Morel missed a three at the buzzer and it was 57 all. Then Cocroft blocked a shot with 1 second left in first overtime, but West Central had a tip in at the buzzer that missed. Christian led 7-5 at end of 1, 20-18 at halftime, and 37-34 at end of three quarters. For awhile it was a battle back and forth between senior Chance Little of West Central and sophomore Marshawn Cocroft of Christian (Aurora). Little ended up with a 33 points 7 rebounds 3 assists and 1 block, Cocroft ended up with 36 points 6 rebounds 3 assists and 1 block. Other leaders for West Central star senior Zack Evans was held in check most of the game but came live in last minute of fourth quarter. He ended up with 17 points 6 rebounds 4 assists and 1 block. Senior guard Mason Berry ended up with a double/double of 11 points 10 rebounds and 2 steals. Besides Cocroft, Christian was led by shop more Jalen Carter with 13 points 8 rebounds 1 assist and 1 block, sophomore Asa Johnson had 12 points 6 rebounds 1 assist and 3 steals. West Central will play Meridian (Mounds) in title game with a 35-3 record. Christian (Aurora) will play conference foe Hope Academy (Chicago) in third place game later today with a 25-9 record.
