When Sides Collide 2024 review!!!!! Top performers!!!!!

Joe Hendrickson as usual put together to top notch event. 5 games this year and some big time performances from some top players. Here we go:

Notes:


Benet's first home loss since 2000.


Mount Carmel's first loss to an Illinois opponent.


DePaul College Prep great effort with 2 starters out. Had two more injuries in this game to the Chambers brothers. Two missed free throws at buzzer of 2nd overtime from a win.


Whitney Young also great effort with two starters out.


Kenwood Academy (Chicago) has another impressive performance on a big stage. Seems like they are ramping it up for the playoffs.




Top performers:


Noah Cleveland, 6'9" senior forward, Normal Community: Getting his groove back after sitting ut his junior year. Stat line: 26 points (2 threes) 10 rebounds (double/double) 3 assists 1 steal and 1 block.




Jaylan McElroy, 6'7" senior forward, DePaul College Prep (Chicago): He was close to a double/double and did some good rim protecting. Stat line: 12 points 9 rebounds 1 assist 2 steals and 4 blocks.


Gianni Cobb, 6'0" senior point guard, Homewood Flossmoor: Columbia commit was productive as usual even hit the glass at a high rate. Stat line: 22 points (4 threes) 5 rebounds 2 assists and 1 steal.


Carson Brownfield, 6'3" senior combo guard, Homewood Flossmoor: Attacked the basket and got to the free throw line at a high rate. Stat line: 16 points (7 free throws) 5 rebounds 1 assist and 1 block


Jack Stanton, 6'2" senior combo guard, North (Downers Grove): Princeton commit kept his team in the game with 7 threes and hit the glass. Stat line: 21 points (7 threes) 6 rebounds 2 assists.




Marquis Clark, 6'2" sophomore point guard, Whitney Young (Chicago): Drew a lot of fouls getting to the free throw line or hitting threes. Stat line: 14 points (3 threes, 5 free throws) 4 rebounds and 5 assists.


Nasir Rankin, 6'1" sophomore combo guard, Whitney Young (Chicago): Two sport jumping jack showed his athletic ability in this game and gave out some dimes (assists). Stat line: 13 points 1 rebound 6 assists and 2 steals.


Howard Williams, 6'5" sophomore forward, Whitney Young (Chicago): This young man is in the conversation for top freshman and showed it in this game. Did some rim protecting too. Stat line: 14 points 7 rebounds 1 steal and 3 blocks.


Jason Jakstys, 6'10" senior forward, Yorkville: Illinois commit had a crazy stat line. Put some ink on that stat page. Stat line: 16 points 20 rebounds (double/double) 3 assists 2 steals and 2 blocks.




Bryce Salek, 6'5" senior wing, Yorkville: Athleticism off the charts and showed it in this game running the floor and tried to put a couple of players on posters. Stat line: 17 points 4 rebounds 2 assists and 4 steals.




Kaevian Johnson, 5'11"senior guard, Dayvion Johnson, 6'0" senor guard, Yorkville: Both had 11 points in this game.


Chris Riddle, 6'5" senior wing, Kenwood Academy (Chicago): Had a scoring explosion in this game scoring on all three levels and getting out on the break for dunks. Stat line: 31 points (4 threes) 6 rebounds 2 assists 1 steal and 1 block.





Aleks Alston, 6'9" junior wing, Kenwood Academy (Chicago): Lefty long and lanky wing did his usual scoring off catch and shoot threes and slashed to the basket for a couple of dunks. Stat line: 20 points 6 rebounds and 3 assists.




Noah Mister, 6'0" sophomore point guard, Mount Carmel (Chicago): Had a good and steady game against his former team Kenwood. Stat line: 16 points 2 rebounds 3 assists and 1 steal.




Grant Best, 6'1" junior guard, Mount Carmel (Chicago): Did a little bit of everything to try and keep his team in the game. Stat line: 13 points (3 threes) 3 rebounds 6 assists and 1 steal.


Isaiah Green, 6'2" senior point guard, Thornton Township (Harvey): Ran the team like a floor general as well as hitting from three point range. Had a lot of hockey assists (pass that led to a pass and then a bucket). Stat line: 26 points (5 threes) 3 rebounds 1 steal and 1 block.




Morez Johnson Jr, 6'9" senior forward, Thornton Township (Harvey): Illinois commit had his usual double/double and altered a lot of shots in the paint area. Drew a lot of fouls and got to the line. Stat line: 21 points (9 free throws) 10 rebounds 3 assists 4 steals and 1 block.




Blake Fagbemi, 5'10" junior point guard, Benet Academy (Lisle): Came off the bench and was productive right away. Aggressive getting to the basket and wrecking havoc on defense. Stat line: 20 points (7 free throws) 7 rebounds 3 assist and 3 steals.


Gabe Sularski, 6'6" sophomore combo guard, Benet Academy (Lisle): Got aggressive offensively in the second half to try and get his team in the game. Stat line: 14 points (6 free throws) 6 rebounds and 2 assists.
