It's a long trip for me to "The Canyon" but it's always worth it. Cozy atmosphere to watch a game where I'm told used to be a huge barn. You can see it immediately when you come over the horizon. It's a huge building in a residential area. I'll get to it, here we go:

Christian (Yorkville) 75 South Beloit 58: Yorkville Christian has 0 seniors. They have 6 juniors, 1 sophomore, and 3 freshman. Young team that will be a big threat in the future. Game was tight for a half as junior wing Ross Robertson was having his way inside getting two pointers at the rim getting Yorkville Christian's big man junior Noah Aguado in foul trouble, though he did hit 2 threes. Yorkville Christian was trading twos for threes though as junior guard Zach Marini was going nuts from that range. He took advantage of the zone South Beloit played all game. He had 5 threes in the first half, 17 points in total to keep the game close. Robertson had 20 points and 7 rebounds at halftime as he took advantage of the man to man Yorkville Christian played, though they dropped two or three players on him at times. South Beloit led 18-14 after one quarter. Yorrkville Christian led 33-32 at halftime. Then here comes Marini again as he hit 5 threes in a row in the third quarter to break the game open. He was being fed by sophomore point guard Jayden Riley, and freshman Tray Alford off the bench. I'll go into their stat line in a bit. By the end of the third quarter Yorkville Christian led 60-42. Game over. In case it was not freshman guard Jordan Purvis made sure of it wirth two dagger threes in the fourth quarter to put it in the refrigerator. Yorkville Christian ups it's record to 10-14, while South Beloit drops to 14-5.

Yorkville Christian top performers:

Zach Marini, 6'0" junior combo guard, Christian (Yorkville): What else is there to say? 10 for 15 from three and he hit 5 each in both halves. He was on FIRE!!!!! IN FLAMES!!!!!! The ones in the second half broke the game open and some of them were from 25 feet. Final stat line was 32 points and found a way to get 8 rebounds 2 assists and 2 steals.

Jayden Riley, 6'2" sophomore point guard, Christian (Yorkville): He's definitely one of the top floor generals in the area regardless of class. He can get to the basket and create for himself of his teammates. Guarded Robertson at times. Final stat line 11 points 3 rebounds 10 assists (double/double) and 2 steals.

Jordan Purvis, 6'2" freshman combo guard, Christian (Yorkville): He came alive offensively in the second half and guarded Robertson at times. Final stat line 11 points 6 rebounds 1 assist and 1 steal. One of the top freshman in the state has to be included in the conversation.

Noah Aguado, 6'6" junior forward, Christian (Yorkville): He had a double/double though he was in foul trouble having to guard Robertson in a man to man defense. Hustled on both ends anyway to a tune of 11 points 10 rebounds and 2 blocks.

Tray Alford, 5'9" freshman point guard, Christian (Yorkville): Came off the bench to contribute 2 points 2 rebounds 6 assists and 2 steals. Lefty has a good shooting stroke from the perimeter and penetrated for some nice passes out to Marini, and dropping it to Aguado in the paint.

South Beloit top performer:

Ross Robertson, 6'8" junior wing, South Beloit: He was an ABSOLUTE MONSTER ESPECIALLY IN THE PAINT!!!! Yorkville Christian had trouble guarding him even when they doubled and triple teamed. He still managed to score 38 points (2 for 3 from three) 16 rebounds (double/double) 1 steal and 4 blocks. He's a problem because he can also bring the ball up and set up the offense and is a threat from three point range. Runs rim to rim very well and knows how to get post position. Moves well off the ball to be a moving target for teammates to pass him the ball in the post.
