Prep Hoops Great Lakes Finale Wrap-Up!!!!!

I attended this just one day which was on Sunday. Site was Wintrust Sports Complex. A couple of Gold Champions were crowned in 15-17U age groups. Lots of under the radar players showed up and showed out. Here we go:

ALL-IN ATHLETICS (IL) 16U P32 WILLIAMS HAS TWO SUPERSTARS UNDER THE RADAR IN CLASS OF 2028:

Both these young men led them to the Gold title and should make huge contributions to their high school teams next winter:

TERRENCE "BOOKAS" DAVIS JR: 6'3" combo guard is explosive King of Bounce. Used his athleticism to dominate on both ends of the court. Missed most of high school basketball season with hand injury for Libertyville. Scored on attacks to the rim in transtion, and off the bounce in the halfcourt. Finished through and around contact. Had some nasty dunks in transtion and from the dunkers spot. Defended multiple positions on the perimeter, using quick hands to get steals on the ball and in passing lane. Two sport star (football) is due for an explosive season and jump back up the rankings in the class.

HAZE MASSEY, 6'2" combo guard is an explosive King of Bounce who showed it on both ends playing both games. Gets out in transtion, scoring on powerful two hand vertical dunks, and Euro step drives to the rim. Hit a three in title game on his way to game high 24 points vs Illinois Flight. Had a good sophomore season at Warren Township (Gurnee) playing junior varsity. Is ready to step in and replace 4 year starter Milwaukee commit Braylon Walker alongside two time Mr Basketball Jaxson Davis. Will keep the Blue Devils as contenders for Class 4A State Title.

TNBA OHIO HGSL SMOOTHLY WORKED THEIR WAY TO 17U GOLD TITLE:

They played some very good team basketball spreading the wealth on the way to the title. Had a two overtime win over London (CAN) Ramblers. They have a couple of small guards who wreck havoc on opposing guards with their quickness on defense and offense.

TY HARRISON, 5'11" point guard is a big time shooter from deep who can get to the rim and finish around contact. Had 5 threes for 17 points vs London Ramblers in overtime semifinal win.

JAKARIS "TINK" SHELTON, 5'5" point guard wasn't scoring a lot but was getting steals and setting temmates up nicely. Wrecked havoc on both ends of the court being a pest to opposing guards. Led team to the title.

DEVONTEY PERKINS, 6'7" forward was scoring in the paint in both semifinals and title game. He had 13 points vs London Ramblers and 10 in the title game vs Full Package Black.

JACE RICCARDO, 6'6" wing was scoring from three, in mid range and drives to the rim in both games. Had 23 points vs London Ramblers and 13 in title game vs Full Package Black.

ILLINOIS WOLVES UAA WIN GOLD 15U TITLE:

I didn't see the title game but watched them in the 8 am game. Balanced scoring by thei team as anyone can hit double figures in the lineup.

QUINN CARROLL, 6'1" combo guard is a three level scorer. Fills it up from three but can also attack the rim and score through and around contact. Hit buzzer beating three in title game vs Michigan Ignition. Could give some production for a loaded Lyons Township (LaGrange) team that is a Class 4A State Title contender this coming winter.

EVAN LEMONS, 6'4" combo guard is an up and comer. Had some nice dunks in the game I watched and hit a three. Uses height, length, and strength to finish through and around contact. Gets out in transition and either finishes at the rim off a pass, the dribble, or stepas out to hit threes. Played some varsity last year at St Laurence (Burbank), and should be in the rotation this year for a Class 4A State Title contender.

ZYLER MASON, 6’7” center with a lot of upside as he’s only 14 years old and still growing. Shows promise as a rim protector, scorer in the paint, and changes ends well in transition. Plays at Oak Park River Forest.

WILLIAMS BROTHERS SHOWED OUT FOR ILLINOIS FLIGHT 16U:

MASON is a 5'10" point guard who was attacking the rim continuously vs All-In P32 Williams. Scored 18 points and drew a couple of fouls to get to the line. Made some nice passes in transition and halfcourt.

MARLON JR is a 5'11" point guard who can fill it up from three and showed it vs All-In P32 Williams. had 16 points on two threes as well as attacking the rim and drawing fouls.

Both play at Bolingbrook aka The Brook.

17U:

JACOB BROWN, LONDON (CAN) RAMBLERS: 6'3" combo guard is a King of Bounce lefty who tries to dunk anything close to the rim. He's also a knockdown three point shooter who loves getting out in transition and using his athleticsm. Air Canada.Had 23 points in overtime semifinal loss to TNBA Ohio HGSL.

ISAIAH SLAY, LONDON (CAN) RAMBLERS: 6'4" combo guard had 18 points on slashes to the rim and mid range jumpers in ovetime semifinal loss to TNBA Ohio HGSL. He defends all perimeter positions moving his feet and quick hands to get steals. Changes ends well in transition.

NEDAS VENCKUS, BREAKAWAY BASKETBALL ADIDAS GOLD: 6'3' combo guard is one half of a deadly twin brother combination. He can run point but is more of the three level scorer. Sneaky athletic finisher at the rim with dunks and hanging layups. Gets hot from the three point line is unstoppable once he gets going. Tough mid range jumper. Will help make Lockport Township a Class 4A State Title contender, and one of the best in talented South Suburbs.

NOJUS VENCKUS, BREAKAWAY BASKETBALL ADIDAS GOLD: 6'3" combo guard is more of the point guard and set up man for Nedas and his teammates. He can fill it up from three as well as finish at the rim with sneaky athleticism using dunks and hanging layups. Tough mid range jumper. Will help make Lockport Township a Class 4A State Title contender, and one of the best in talented South Suburbs.

BENNETT KAMMES, BREAKAWAY BASKETBALL ADIDAS GOLD: 6'2" combo guard is a big time lefty three point shooter whether off the bounce or the catch. Attacks the rim and scores off the bounce. Should have a big scoring year at Glenbard West (Glen Ellyn) as a three year varsity contributor.

GEORGE GRAY, ALL IN ATHLETICS P32 WILLIAMS (IL): 6'6" combo guard used his size to post up on the block scoring at the rim, and in the mid range. Attacked the rim off the dribble as well in transition and the half court. Has a three point shot but worked mostly 15 feet and in on this day. Had 13 points (1 three) vs Chicago Lockdown Daniels. Plays for Oak Park River Forest.

ORVILLE CROSS JR, ALL-IN ATHLETICS P32 WILLIAMS: 6’4” forward was a double/double machine. Scored at the rim, hit the glass on both ends of the court. Did some rim protecting. Had 15 points and hit a three vs Breakaway Basketball Adidas Gold.

MOHAMMAD FARHAN, CHICAGO LOCKDOWN DANIELS: 6'5" forward scored on the block, in the mid range, and battles hard for rebounds on both ends of the court. Changes ends well and passes well off of post ups. Had 16 points vs All In Athletics Denard. Plays for Stagg (Palos Hills).

MILES BURNISON, CHICAGO LOCKDOWN DANIELS: 6'4" wing had 10 points on baskets mostly from mid range or off rebound put backs vs All In Athletics Denard. Plays for York Community (Elmhurst).

KAVIN PATEL, FULL PACKAGE BLACK: 6'0" combo guard had a game winning tip in earier in the weekend. Scored 22 points on mid range shots and attacks to the rim in win over Chicago Cannons. Plays for Stevenson (Lincolnshire).

GAVYN REILLY, CHICAGO CANNONS: 6'3" combo guard is a three level scorer. Had 23 points ( 1 three) on mid range fall away jumpers, drawing fouls on attacks to the rim vs Full Package Black. Plays at Chicago Agricultural Science Academy.

DANIEL SPYCHALA, FULL PACKAGE BLACK (IL): 6'7" forward lefty scored 13 points (1 three) in silver title game vs Breakaway Basketball Adidas Gold. Scored at the rim and had a couple of mid range jumpers. Plays at Central (Crystal Lake).

DINO GIANNINI, FULL PACKAGE BLACK (IL): 6'1" point guard had 18 points (8 free throws) on attacks to the rim, drawing fouls, and hit 2 threes as well vs Breakaway Basketball Adidas Gold. Plays at Ridgewood (Norridge).

JAQUAN "QUAN" JAMERSON, FULL PACKAGE BLACK (IL): 5'10" point guard had it going from three vs Breakaway Basketball Adidas Gold. Hit 3 of them for his 15 points all off the ctach and shoot variety. Plays at Round Lake.

16U:

JASHAWN COFFEY, PHENOM UNITED INDIANA 3GSB: 6'2" point guard gets where he wants off the dribble getting downhill to the rim. Scored 19 points scoring through and around contact at the rim. Great battle vs DJ Laye of Midwest Renegade P32 in the win.

CHANCE DEROSSETT, PHENOM UNITED INDIANA 3GSB: 6'5" combo guard had 14 points in win over Midwest Renegade P32. Has a smooth stroke from three and showed a nice two dribble mid range pull-up jumper.

DARRIN "DJ" LAYE, MIDWEST RENEGADE P32: 6'0" point guard had a great battle with Jashawn Coffey of Phenom United Indiana 3GSB attacking the rim. Laye showed a nice turnaround mid range jumper, and spin move to get into the paint. Scored 17 points (1 three) and defended on the ball using quick hands. Won a Class 1A State Title at Marshall (Chicago).

TAE ROBINSON, MIDWEST RENEGADE P32: Combo guard hit 3 threes for his 11 points vs Phenom United Indiana 3GSB. Scored them on catch and shoot variety.

EVAN OKEY, ALL-IN ATHLETICS P32 WILLIAMS: 6'7" forward had 12 points (1 three) vs Milwaukee Trailblazers and 8 points in title game vs Illinois Flight. Good postup player and hits the glass on both ends of the court. Plays at Libertyville.

JACK OLSZWESKI, MILWAUKEE TRAILBLAZERS: 6'2" point guard had 16 of his 18 points (1 three) vs All-In Athletics P32 Williams. Go to the rim and scored as well as drawing fouls getting to the free throw line.

15U:

QYNTIN WOODS, PHENOM UNITED INDIANA 3GSB: 6'2" combo guard who's nickname is "Assassin" certainly was one vs Midwest Renegade P32. Scored 23 points (4 threes) scoring at all three levels. Scoring at the rim on dribble penetration and drwaing fouls to get to the line. Nice on catch and shoot threes in transition. Ballard (Louisville, Ky) product. Derby City has produced some big time talent lately.

JORDAN FORTINO, PHENOM UNITED INDIANA 3GSB: 6'3" combo guard had 12 points hitting a couple of threes in transition in win over Midwest Renegade P32. Smooth stroke from the perimeter knows how to get to his spots to squeeze off a jump shot. Plays at St Ignatius (Cincinnati, OH).

ZAY HILL, PHENOM UNITER INDIANA 3GSB: Did a little bit of everything in win over Midwest Renegade P32. Scored, rebounded, assistsed, had steals. Plays at Sycamore (OH)

AARON HARRINGTON, MIDWEST RENEGADE P32: 6'1" point guard lefty was scoring on mostly on attacks to the rim getting to the line. Scored 24 points (10 free throws) hitting two threes vs Phenom United Indiana 3GSB. Fearless off the dribble getting to the rim in transtion and half court. Plays at Perspectives Leadership (Chicago).

KENON DISMUKES. MIDWEST RENEGADES P32: 6'4" forward was getting it off both backboards, and doing some rim protecting with a couple of blocks vs Phenom United Indiana 3GSB. Can also get it off the defensive glass and take it himself in transition. Plays at Hyde Park Academy (Chicago).
